We just watched Brambletown, via our PBS subscription. It's a little 30 min show about woodland creatures featuring the folksy Appalachian music of the Okee Dokee Brothers. Now we're listening to the music all the time!
Thank you for these recs! I would add Tumble Leaf to the list on Prime Video (wish it wasn't on Amazon) but it's sooo peaceful and we love the stop-motion animation.
Puffin Rock on Netflix! Beautiful animation, slow and gentle story telling, immersed in nature. It’s all about friendship, family, playing, and being brave when needed (in very age appropriate ways).
So funny that you shared this list today because I introduced my son to Little Bear over the weekend! This is such a great roundup. We're Going on a Bear Hunt is another short I'd add to this list.
I was this close to adding Jan Brett to the list, she definitely fits the vibe!! I’ve seen Circle Round— I’ll check that out! And Sarah and Duck too, thank you for these!
There’s something incredibly grounding about being reminded that slow, gentle storytelling still holds so much power, for our kids and for us. Little Bear and Frog and Toad were staples in our home when my oldest kids were small, and I love the idea of revisiting them now that they’re a bit older. It’s a reminder that calm isn’t something we need to chase, it’s something we can choose to invite in, little by little, even on the most chaotic days.
This is a lovely list. When I struggle with anxiety, children shows really work to calm me down. Something about the low-stakes and softness I think… Winnie The Pooh will always be high on my soothing list, but currently I’m also really loving Bluey!
Did you ever read Richard Scarry, the Frances books by Russell Hoban, Harry the Dirty Dog series (Gene Zion), Go Dog Go! (P.D. Eastman), Claude the Dog (Dick Gackenbach), or the Babar books? So good!
Love Richard Scarry and Babar (loved the show as a kid too!) though my eldest was too sensitive to the books— we do need to revisit! Some of the others are new to me, I’ll check them out— thank you!!
Frog and toad is so good. My 3 year old wants to have a Frog and Toad themed birthday party for her 4th- so I really feel like I’m winning this year. 😂
Love this list. We’ll be checking a few of these out! Thank you.
Reading this as my daughter listens to Julie Andrew’s podcast “Julie’s Library” on her Yoto! Is there anything more soothing than Julie Andrew’s voice?? I’m hoping this continues to be a cozy favorite in our house!
Excited to explore some of these that are new to me! We love watching the Room on the Broom adaptation on Apple TV as well as The Snowy Day adaptation on Amazon Prime. Both are so sweet and well-done with soothing music.
You know, I was *this close* to putting Room on the Broom on here!! We love that one, it gets lots of plays in October. :) The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Netflix is very soothing and chill too.

Agree!!
Oooo thank you!! 🙌 Will find a way to check that out.
This is such a great roundup! I'm definitely going to check out Gardenkeeper Gus. We love Stillwater on Apple TV (& The Jon Muth books)!
Gardenkeeper Gus is such a treasure! Thank you for the rec, I'm excited to watch Stillwater!
What I wouldn’t give for Stillwater to be my neighbor

What!? That is wild! Great minds think alike. It's my fave, so relaxing and wonderful!
...and here are a few we've been loving - “Mossy” by Jan Brett, “Circle Round” (podcast), and
“Sarah & Duck”

I love that, Lynzy!! 🥹 When I rewatch Kiki’s Delivery Service I just feel so at peace, and soothed— it’s like a comfort blanket to me.

That’s beautiful, Monique. I completely relate. Oooo we do love Bluey too!!
Love George and Martha! Great picks!!
Aren’t they just the best?!
Yes!

Yay!! You're so welcome!
Let’s start a petition for more Gardenkeeper Gus episodes?! Love all of these!! You’re going to LOVE Arietty! 💕
Honestly!! Where do I sign?! Deep Blue Sea is lovely too but didn’t quite hook us like Gus did.
I’m SO EXCITED for Arietty! I’d love to watch all the SG flicks at some point. 🥲🙌

Love this list. We’ll be checking a few of these out! Thank you.
Omg that’s epic!! I can imagine all the toadstools, cookies, plaid, and thoughtful details now.
💯 I’ve got a missing button game I’ve already dreamed up. So much good content to work from. 😁
Oooo hehe yes!!!
Saving this list! I love Little Bear so much 🥹 and we just recently discovered Poppleton!
Little Bear is such comfort! And I wanna live in Poppleton’a neighborhood 🥲
Reading this as my daughter listens to Julie Andrew’s podcast “Julie’s Library” on her Yoto! Is there anything more soothing than Julie Andrew’s voice?? I’m hoping this continues to be a cozy favorite in our house!
Oooo can’t wait to check it out, thank you!!
How did you get this on yoto?
It’s a free podcast that you can add to a MYO card! I don’t think it’s downloadable - pretty sure you can only listen if you’re connected to WiFi?
My two year old LOVES Llama Llama! Thanks for these recs!!
Isn’t it the best?! That into song 😂👏
