The Sunday Menu is a look at what I’m cookin’ up this week, kitchen sounds, fave ingredients, and other reflections on all things delicious. Grab a snack and let’s hang out in the kitchen…

mmmm the golden amber hues of fall food, comfort on a plate!

Happy Fall Equinox! ✨🍂 This piece from The Good Trade has some great thoughts about how to celebrate and shares similar sentiments to my own intentions about the seasonal reset. I hope you find a moment to celebrate the welcome of autumn, clink a mug of warm tea with someone you love, and feel a tickle of fizziness for the new season upon us.

I’m excited to share about all the fall foodie things today, lots about apples and a recreation of a grilled cheese we had in Maine that I couldn’t stop thinking about. Let’s eat!

I’m sharing a look at some meals we have been enjoying the past few weeks and some meals on my radar this week (olive oil & date oatmeal!?!). I’d love to know what fall meals you have been enjoying lately too.

🥞 breakfast:

  • pumpkin waffles— while I don’t love pumpkin-scented things or pumpkin drinks I do enjoy pumpkin baked goods and breakfast foods. I also like to make my own pumpkin purée simply for the fun of letting my kids scoop out the pumpkin guts ☺️ but you really do get a lot out of one bitty pumpkin so it’s more economical too. Here’s the easy method we use (and make sure to roast those seeds).

  • stovetop oatmeal— topped with sautéed cinnamon apples (I save the half-eaten apples leftover by my kids, cube up the good parts, and sauté in coconut oil and cinnamon), walnuts, flax meal, and maple syrup

  • olive oil date oatmeal— ummmm are you kidding me?! How has this combination not been on my radar yet for oatmeal?!
